2006 South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association, Annual Meeting and Symposia

Theme: “Current and Best Practices in Athletic Training – Service and Education”

Location: Brookings, South Dakota

13&14 July 2006

 

Goals of the Annual Symposia:

(1)     Provide an opportunity to Athletic Trainer to meet and discuss issues and practices relevant to the profession.

(2)     Provide activities promote interaction and collegiality between Athletic Trainers in the state of South Dakota.

Overview

The Program Planning Committee for the SDATA Annual meeting is issuing a call for presenters at the Annual Meeting to be held 13&14 of July, 2006 in Brookings, South Dakota.  The 2006 symposia theme is “Current and Best Practices in Athletic Training – Service and Education”.  The symposia will offer large group presentations, interactive breakout, and hands on sessions.  Deadline for submissions will be Friday, May 31 2006.  Presenters will be notified June 9, 2006.

 

Purpose for Call of Presenters

The purpose of this “Call for Presenters” is to provide an opportunity for Athletic Trainers in the state of South Dakota who are currently practicing with patients and/or educating students to share their knowledge and expertise with their peers. 

 

Topics

Topics for presentation may include “Best Practice” or Current Issues related to any domain and task area of the Fifth Role Delineation Study (www.bocatc.org).  Best Practices and Current Issues are those strategies, techniques, etc. that Athletic Trainers use to achieve positive outcomes with their patients or students.  Presentations can include theory and background, but more importantly, describe how the practice is implemented and how it has impacted practice.  Suggestions might also be made on how adaptations to the practice might be affected in the future. Presentation of current research would also be acceptable.  Current Domain Areas:  Domain I: Prevention, Domain II: Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis, Domain III: Immediate Care, Domain IV: Treatment, Rehabilitation and Reconditioning, Domain V: Organization and Administration, Domain VI: Professional Responsibility

(2)     Sharing your knowledge and expertise with others in the profession of Athletic Training.

Eligible Presenters

Any licensed/certified Athletic Trainer, either full time employment or graduate student, is eligible to submit a presentation proposal. Athletic Training Student proposals would also be considered, however, certified/licensed Athletic Trainers would be given priority.  Collaborative and interdisciplinary teams are encouraged and welcome; however, we ask that at least one of the presenters be a licensed Athletic Trainer whose primary practice is Athletic Training.

 

Responsibilities of the Presenter(s):

  1. Develop an appropriate topic, complete the proposal form and have the proposal postmarked 31 May 2006. (Presenters will be notified of acceptance by 9 June 2006).
  2. Timely correspondence with program coordinators if the proposal is accepted.  Confirmation of requests for audio visuals, equipment, etc. will be completed by July 7, 2006.
  3. Any hand out materials MUST be provided to the program coordinators by July 7, 2006 to ensure appropriate amount of time for printing.
